Carlo Fidanza
Born in San Benedetto del Tronto and based in Milan, Carlo Fidanza began his political career early with the Youth Front of the Italian Social Movement (MSI). In 1995 he joined the National Alliance (AN) and later held leadership roles in its youth movement, Azione Giovani, including national vice president.
He served as group leader of AN in Milan’s Zone 5 Council (1997–2001) and held local government roles in Desio (2005–2006). In 2006, he was elected municipal councilor in Milan with AN, later serving as group leader, vice-leader of the Popolo della Libertà (PdL), and president of the “Expo 2015” Council Commission until 2011. He was also active in ANCI Giovani and the youth movements of PdL.
In 2009, Fidanza was elected Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the PdL. He left the party in 2012 and co-founded Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy). He served as deputy head and later head of the Brothers of Italy delegation in the European Parliament. During his mandate, he was a full member of the Transport and Tourism Committee and an alternate member of the Agriculture Committee.
After the 2014 European elections, he continued to hold senior roles within Brothers of Italy, including responsibility for local authorities and later as foreign director. From 2016 to 2018, he served as extraordinary commissioner of Liguria’s tourism agency. He also represented Italy in the EU Committee of the Regions from 2015 to 2019.
In 2018, he was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies. In 2019, he returned to the European Parliament, again leading the Brothers of Italy delegation within the ECR group. He is a member of the Transport and Tourism Committee, substitute member of the Internal Market Committee, and co-president of the Parliamentary Intergroup on Religious Freedom (FORB).
